Visitez Vabre-Tizac, Le Bas-Ségala

In the picturesque valley where weaves the Serène lies the history of an ancient fortified village...Vabre-Tizac !

The fort of Vabre Tizac is a closed square that connects to the Church's square by a vaulted door dating back to XII-XIVth century.

The history of Vabre Tizac takes us back to Middle Age. Vabre once was a seigneurial fiefdom that also served as a refuge for villagers. Houses were built as a rampart around an oval-shaped square. All openings led to this square. At the foot of theses ramparts were built gaps that are still visible nowadays.

Nearby, you'll see the Bleyssol cross, erected at the end of the XVth century and on which we can find the Virgin and Child as well as a “Pietà”.

A little story :

Vabre-Tizac is the birth place of Gustave Garrigou, the winner of the cycling Tour de France in 1911 !
