For further infrmation you should contact the local angling association by phoning Monsieur SANCHEZ on 05 65 81 45 25.<br \/>\nThe Viaur is a tributary of the Aveyron. As it moves downstream it also forms the border between the Aveyron department and its neighbour, the Tarn. Its gorges, which can sometimes be dangerous to get to, are ideal both for the adventurous and the more contemplative. The river was a source of inspiration for the famous local writer, Jean Boudou, and many of its legends live on to this day. La Roque leisure area near La Salvetat Peyral\u00e8s is a great place for a family fishing outing.<br \/>\n<em>Fish: Gudgeon, Carp, Tench, Trout, Barbel, Pike, Perch, Minnow.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>At\u00a0<strong>Rieupeyroux<\/strong>, you can fish in the <strong>Saint Martial lake<\/strong> (Situated just below Saint Martial Church, releases of fish each year. The banks are borderd by a sports circuit and equipped with toilets and picnic tables) and the <strong>Vergi\u00e8s lakes<\/strong> (seconde cat\u00e9gorie). \u00a0\u00a0For further information, please contact the local angling association by calling Monsieur ENJARBERT on 05 65 65 58 72.<\/li>\n<li>At <strong>Pr\u00e9vinqui\u00e8res<\/strong>, there is fishing in the <strong>river Aveyron<\/strong> (seconde cat\u00e9gorie)<br \/>\nThe river Aveyron flows through many varied landscapes in its 290km length; in the S\u00e9gala it has carved out several deep gorges, but many riverbanks are easily accessible and provide spectacular viewpoints over a still wild natural environment.<br \/>\n<em>Fish: Gudgeon, Barbel, Carp, Tench, Trout, Pike, Perch, Minnow.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>At Lescure-Jaoul,\u00a0<\/strong>Hemmed in by its gorges, the Jaoul lets fishers indulge their passion in an untamed yet leafy setting.<em>Fish\u00a0: Vairon, Blanc, Gudgeon, Trout, Minnow.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So what do the references to premi\u00e8re cat\u00e9gorie or deuxi\u00e8me (seconde) cat\u00e9gorie (first or second category) really mean?<\/p>\n<p>The first category (premi\u00e8re cat\u00e9gorie) concerns water courses, ponds or lakes where \u201cnoble\u201d fish such as salmon, trout, sea trout or grayling predominate and are protected. Here special rules apply: the opening and closing dates of the fishing season may vary from one region to another (like hunting) but in general the season opens in March and finishes in September.<\/p>\n<p>The second category (deuxi\u00e8me or seconde cat\u00e9gorie) covers waters where white fish are dominant (roach, bream, tench, barbel, carp, pike, zander, perch, catfish\u2026) Here you can fish all year round (apart from the carnivorous varieties such as pike or zander). A river can be classified as partly first and partly second category.<\/p>\n<h3>Where do I get a permit ?<\/h3>\n<p>If you\u2019re going to fish you\u2019ll need a permit.
